Immigration Concerns
Legal Immigration has always been an important part of the development of The United States of America. A sound immigration policy is necessary for all nations to grow and prosper.
However, rampant
and unchecked Illegal Immigration can cause the opposite effect,
causing a nation's economy and culture to fail and collapse.
Throughout history, our country has always had one of
the most (if not the most)
generous and welcoming policies towards new legal immigrants. We
already grant resident visas and citizenship to an average of nearly one million new immigrants every year. But approximately one million ADDITIONAL
illegal aliens invade our country every year,
because they either aren't willing to wait (like the rest of
the legal
immigrants), or they know they will be denied entry due to felony
criminal records or other legitimate reasons.
Advocates on both sides of the issue (anti- and pro- illegal
immigration) all agree that the U.S. Federal government has failed in
its responsibility to handle the immigration issue.
Once again, this
distant and unresponsive
government in Washington, D.C. obviously owes its allegiance and
position to the
multi-national corporations and the special interest groups, not to us.
Ozark voters are not anti-immigration, we have traditionally always welcomed a reasonable amount of new immigrants into our communities. We know that a sound immigration policy is necessary.
Ozark voters
also know that excessive immigration is a serious problem.
We've seen firsthand the disastrous results of an unchecked immigrant
population explosion (much of which is composed of illegal
immigrants). Too many immigrant laborers flood a community - literally brought up in busloads from the southern border by greedy
corporations - then they fail to assimilate into the local population,
and the quality of life for all suffers. Schools are overwhelmed by too
many non-english-speaking students, and the quality of education for
all students nosedives dramatically. An increased tax burden is caused,
because all government (and other) public services must deal with the
constant influx, and that cost is passed disproportionately to our
struggling, and rapidly depleting, middle-class. It amounts to our tax
dollars unfairly subsidizing the (so-called) "cheap labor" for the rich & powerful corporations.
We must become Vocal Local to stop this madness.
- First: Educate yourself and learn why the immigration
problem is important to
you, and to all freedom and liberty-loving Americans.
- Next: Get Vocal Local! Make your voice heard with your neighbors, co-workers, newspapers, local government officials, and everyone else you can reach.
"As a nation with a long history of immigration and commitment to the rule of law, this country must set limits on who can enter and then credibly enforce our immigration law."
- U.S. Commission on Immigration Reform (1995)
